Job Description
Role: Database Migration Expert
Location: Alpharetta GA (Onsite)
Duration: 6 months contract
Job Description:
We re looking for a hands-on Cassandra and DataStax expert to lead and support complex data migration initiatives within a high-performance team. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical insight and real-world experience in scaling optimizing and transitioning distributed data solutions without relying heavily on Java development.
Responsibilities:
- Design execute and manage database migration strategies centered on Cassandra and DataStax.
- Analyze existing data models usage patterns and performance metrics to guide migration efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and implement seamless transitions with minimal downtime.
- Optimize schema design replication strategies and indexing for performance and scalability.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering teams on Cassandra best practices.
- Document migration processes and contribute to reusable playbooks and reference architectures.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven subject matter expertise in Apache Cassandra and DataStax Enterprise (DSE).
- Strong track record of successful data migration projects including planning tooling and execution.
- Proficient in data modeling performance tuning and cluster management.
- Experience with automation scripting and deployment strategies (Python Bash etc.).
- Comfortable working with DevOps pipelines and containerized environments (Docker Kubernetes preferred).
- Strong analytical and communication skills to translate technical findings to stakeholders.
Nice-to-Have (But Not Necessary):
- Java experience is not a primary requirement for this role and holds minimal weight in candidate evaluation.
