POSITION SUMMARY
The Lifeguard is responsible for creating a safe and positive space that welcomes all individuals while promoting and maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool deck and surrounding areas in accordance with Culinary Institute of America (CIA) policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor the pool with constant attention to all swimmers.
- Ensure the safety of swimmers by communicating and enforcing the rules and procedures of the pool.
- Rescue swimmers and perform appropriate follow-up procedures including the proper use of equipment in the performance of first aid.
- Follow strict guidelines regarding safety and emergency procedures.
- Responsible for performing various maintenance duties (i.e. taking chemical readings) to help ensure a clean and safe facility.
- Work well independently and as part of a team.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Previous experience lifeguarding.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Must hold a valid and current CPR/AED Certification.
- Must hold a valid and current Lifeguard Certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two (2) years of lifeguarding experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Skilled in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
- Must display a high level of energy and self-motivation.
- Strong customer service skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must have a flexible schedule with weekend availability.
- Able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Able to sit in a chair for long periods of time.
