Job Description

HVAC Operations Manager (Connecticut)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and growth-minded HVAC Operations Manager to lead and scale our HVAC department in Connecticut. This role is central to our expansion and will start by managing subcontractor onboarding and hands-on project execution. As the department grows this role will take on the development of an internal install team and full responsibility for daily HVAC operations.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in residential HVAC systemsespecially heat pumps and ductless mini-split installationsand has a track record of building teams and systems from the ground up.

1. Project & Operations Management

  • Oversee end-to-end execution of HVAC projects for single-family and multifamily homes ensuring quality compliance and on-time delivery.
  • Develop project timelines coordinate schedules and manage resources to hit key milestones.
  • Monitor field performance and troubleshoot project risks or delays as needed.
  • Implement and enforce quality control protocols to ensure installations meet internal and industry standards.
  • Lead the development of internal HVAC install teams and oversee daily departmental operations.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and documentation are secured in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Perform post-installation service visits in process or post-install QC visits and pre-install QC visits when necessary.

2. Subcontractor Management

  • Recruit onboard and develop relationships with skilled HVAC subcontractors.
  • Set clear expectations on quality timelines and safety for all subcontractor engagements.
  • Maintain regular communication to monitor performance resolve issues and promote alignment with company standards.

3. Scoping & Planning

  • Review and validate project scopes developed by the sales or assessment teams; identify required revisions before scheduling.
  • Conduct site visits as needed to accurately define HVAC installation requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project plans covering labor equipment materials and scheduling.
  • Ensure all designs and installations adhere to applicable codes regulations and efficiency program standards.

4. Partnership Management

  • Serve as the point of contact for municipal and programmatic partnerships tied to HVAC projects.
  • Manage program participation and compliance with Energize CT and other state efficiency initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates to partners and ensure program requirements are fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Manage program budgets RFP responses for both town and program partnerships.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in HVAC installation project management or operations; leadership experience preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of heat pumps ductless mini-splits and energy-efficient residential HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling operational teams.
  • Strong organizational communication and vendor management skills.
  • Familiarity with Connecticut building codes and utility-sponsored energy programs a plus.
  • Valid drivers license; ability to travel within the state as needed.
