The role
Join the Energy and Resources Policy team as a Senior Planning Policy Officer and help shape the future of New South Wales energy and resources landscape.
This dynamic role puts you at the forefront of major policy reformfrom accelerating the rollout of renewable energy zones and implementing the NSW Hydrogen Strategy to tackling emerging issues in the resources sector like post-mining land use and critical minerals.
Youll join a small but driven team known for delivering high quality policy innovations. Youll work on high-impact projects that balance environmental social and economic priorities liaise with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and with a broad range of views and help develop clear practical planning policy to guide infrastructure development and resource management.

What you will bring to the role
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience in the energy and/or natural resources sectors particularly in policy or assessment
- In-depth understanding of NSWs planning legislation particularly the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and related State Environmental Planning Policies
- Strong background in policy design implementation and review
- Strategic thinking capabilitiesable to critically evaluate key issues solve problems and offer insightful policy options
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously ensuring timely delivery and coordination of diverse policy initiatives while navigating competing priorities and stakeholder interests
- Strong communicator who can translate technical information into plain English and tailor messaging for clarity and impact
- Skilled in both qualitative and quantitative research with a knack for turning complex data into practical evidence-based recommendations
- Experience in preparing clear concise reports briefings and correspondence for varied audiences including senior decision-makers
- Collaborative team player actively contributing to systems policies and procedures to lift team performance
- Committed to customer service integrity and working with resilience under pressure and scrutiny
What is an essential requirement:
- Degree in planning or a similarly relevant discipline.
