This position is responsible to provide direct tutoring to students and to support the operations of the Language Arts Tutoring and Learning Center. This individual must possess an interest in working with a diverse population of learners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide academic support to GRCC students on reading and writing projects and assignments.
- Promote and develop the academic success of students by encouraging a positive attitude through independent self-actualized learning.
- Assist the Tutorial Coordinator with the operation of GRCCs Language Arts Lab including the supervision training and mentoring of staff.
- Discuss lab services with students during class visitations.
- Keep the Lab Coordinator informed of any problems experienced in the lab by students or staff.
- Refer students to resources and services on campus not offered in the Language Arts Lab.
- Perform opening and closing duties as needed.
- Follow College policy on the Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA).
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education Credentials
- Possess an Associate Degree or equivalent in English Composition and Rhetoric Humanities or a related field; Bachelors Degree preferred.
Work Experience
- Experience teaching/tutoring college-level reading and writing also preferred

- Possess strong service skills with a student-oriented focus.
- Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively and maintain rapport with students staff faculty and administration.
- Possess ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate professionalism and other qualities including courtesy patience confidentiality dependability promptness and organization.
- Demonstrate interest in assessing effectiveness as a professional tutor; participate in professional development trainings/workshops as needed and/or assigned.
- Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and faculty team.
- Proficiency in using instructional technology and learning management systems ( Canvas Blackboard).
