Job Description

The Public Relations Social Media division within Marketing & Communications is seeking a Social Media Associate who will aid in the development and execution of public relations campaigns and content marketing efforts across traditional digital and social media. Working in partnership with senior public relations and social media staff this role will help promote and engage the Boston University community and experience. The role will work to highlight BUs strategic priorities and institutional values including academic and research advancement and our welcoming and international flair on campus and among passionate alumni around the world. Duties will include original content creation such as blog and social media posts outreach notes best practice documentation; assist with social media management SEO and reporting; social media monitoring including following trends and BU influencers; integrating social media ideas and content with editorial properties. This role will also work closely with student interns to keep our social media channels creative and engaging. Required Skills

Qualifications: B.A./B.S. or equivalent experience in communications marketing or related field(s). 1-3 years of related internship or work experience in public relations marketing or similar areas. Advanced knowledge of the different social media platforms and tools. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies. Proficiency of WordPress SEO and design experience is a plus. Position Requirements: Maturity and good judgment -- exercise discretion when exposed to confidential or sensitive information. Ability to work cross-functionally with the PR Social Media team. Ability to stay current with industry trends and BU affairs. Attention to detail good organizational and multifunctional skills. Strategic thinking and the ability to drive engagement through innovative content. Ability to supervise and guide interns including assigning meaningful work monitoring progress and offering feedback.
