Job Description
METECS is seeking a mid-level Simulation Software Engineer to support NASAs Orion spacecraft as part of the Artemis program. In this role youll help develop test and maintain high-fidelity simulations that model Orions complex systems and interactions with the Space Launch System (SLS) Co-Manifested Payloads (CPLs) and the Gateway lunar space station.
This position spans the full software development lifecyclefrom systems engineering and requirements definition to implementation CI/CD support and integration testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design develop and maintain simulation software for Orion spacecraft systems.
- Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to model and validate spacecraft behavior.
- Implement and optimize software using Python and C.
- Support integration and verification testing to ensure simulation accuracy and reliability.
- Apply lessons learned from previous Orion missions to improve tools and processes for Artemis III and IV.
- Contribute to a high-performing mission-driven team environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in computer science aerospace engineering or a related field.
- 37 years of experience in software development ideally in aerospace or simulation environments.
- Proficiency in Python scripting and C development.
- Experience working in Linux-based environments.
- Familiarity with hardware/software integration and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with containerization (e.g. Docker).
- Familiarity with machine emulators such as SIMICS or QEMU.
- Background in spaceflight systems or aerospace simulation is a plus.
Citizenship or lawful permanent resident required due to federal position.
