Job Description

SUMMARY: The Center for Digital Equity at Queens University of Charlotte is seeking someone who enjoys working with people organizing meaningful projects and keeping lots of moving pieces on track. As the Advocacy Coordinator youll be part of a team that helps connect local organizations government partners and community groups around shared goals like improving access to digital tools skills and support.

In this role youll help keep our advocacy and ecosystem-building efforts organized and running smoothly. Most of your time approximately 70% will be dedicated to managing a cohort-based initiative that provides digital skills training and device access to community partners. This includes coordinating closely with community partners who lead training and career preparation sessions and ensuring that learners receive the devices support and resources they need to succeed.

This is a full-time benefits-eligible position reporting to the Advocacy Sr. Program Director. This position is funded for a 10-month term.

The Center for Digital Equity at Queens University of Charlotte is the backbone organization for a collective impact strategy bringing together residents public and private sector partners to co-create solutions allowing every resident to thrive in our modern culture. It recognizes that digital equity is necessary for a thriving society democracy and economy. Through awareness partnerships and action it aims to empower organizations to deliver digital inclusion resources to the communities they serve.

This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advocacy and Ecosystem Coordination:
  1. Coordinate meetings events and working groups that bring together partners around digital access and technology-related initiatives.
  2. Maintain up-to-date documentation timelines and communications for CDEs advocacy and ecosystem engagement activities.
  3. Support the preparation of policy materials presentations and public updates.
  • Partner and Community Engagement:
    1. Serve as a main point of contact for local organizations and partners participating in CDEs programs.
    2. Help onboard new partners and support communications related to advocacy and community learning initiatives.
    3. Assist with coordination of stakeholder communication and engagement including meeting follow-ups and updates.
  • Skilling Program Management:
    1. Support community organizations with the delivery of digital skills training cohorts and career development sessions.
    2. Coordinate logistics such as registration scheduling cohort communication and resource delivery.
    3. Help manage the distribution and tracking of devices associated with training programs.
  • Program Documentation and Reporting:
    1. Maintain accurate records of cohort activity partner engagement and program performance.
    2. Support the development of updates and reports for stakeholders funders and internal use.
    3. Collect and summarize success stories and participant feedback.
  • General Coordination and Support:
    1. Collaborate across teams to align advocacy and training efforts with organizational goals.
    2. Assist with internal project tracking process updates and event planning as needed.
    3. Contribute to the Centers broader outreach and learning activities.
  • Other:
    1. Manage various initiatives/projects aligned with the Strategic Business Plan goals and overall work plans.
    2. Assist with strategic business planning discussions and implementation.

Experience Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Minimum of two years of experience in program coordination advocacy community engagement or a related field.
  • Bachelors degree in public policy nonprofit management communications or related discipline or a combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience supporting training programs or skilling initiatives.
  • Familiarity with partner engagement cohort-based programming or device distribution logistics.
  • Knowledge of program coordination and stakeholder engagement best practices.
  • Knowledge of event planning and meeting facilitation.
  • Familiarity with documentation and tracking systems like CRMs or spreadsheets.
  • Ability to present complex ideas in writing and orally to various stakeholder groups while conveying information effectively.
  • Capable of identifying complex problems understanding the pros and cons of alternative solutions and implementing changes with cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel (comfortable using collaborative tools such as Zoom and project management platforms.)
  • Effectively manage time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
  • Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.
  • Work effectively independently and as a member of a team.
