Job Summary
The Public Relations Coordinator is in charge of developing coordinating and supervising public relations activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan aligned with the districts strategic goals and objectives. Identify key messages and target audiences to ensure consistent and effective communication. Advise the Director of Schools and district leadership on communication strategies and public relations matters.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all media inquiries responding promptly and accurately. Prepare and distribute press releases media advisories and public statements. Coordinate media interviews and press conferences. Monitor media coverage of the district and provide reports to leadership.
- Oversee the content design and maintenance of the districts official website ensuring it is current accurate and user-friendly. Manage and create content for the districts social media channels (e.g. Facebook X Instagram) engaging with the community and promoting district achievements. Develop and edit district newsletters annual reports brochures presentations and other public-facing materials. Oversee the production of video content for district events announcements and promotional purposes.
- Maintains relationships with social professional civic volunteer and other community agencies and groups having an interest in the school Serves as resource for business partnerships for the school district. Serves as the school system representative on community agencies and committees.
- Cooperates with district administrators and other staff members as appropriate in publicizing and promoting performances exhibitions displays dedications or special programs sponsored by the schools.
- Assumes primary responsibility for the design and preparation of the school districts publications such as brochures newsletters and information bulletins
- Plans promotes and coordinates student staff and program Coordinates special activities within the district and oversees the implementation as directed by the supervisor (system-wide competitions and all staff services).
- Presents reports and program recommendations to the administrative staff central office staff and the Board of Education.
- Works with administrators to formulate plans that reflect the concerns and assessed needs of the faculty and staff.
- Works cooperatively with the school staff media to develop a program for the effective utilization of the news media.
- Maintains open lines of communication with community organizations and provides prompt responses to requests for public information about the district its policies and
- Establishes databases pertaining to all areas of the educational
- Promotes articulates and publicizes the school systems mission and
- Assists upon request in school level in-service and staff development
- Works with administrators and school staff development committees to establish priorities goals and allocation of resources for staff development
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Experience
- A Bachelors degree in public relations marketing communications or a related
- A Masters degree in the aforementioned fields is
- Five years experience in public relations in an educational setting strongly preferred.
- Experienced managing an organizations social media website and other public communication channels also strong preferred.
