Job Description

TITLE: Adjunct Faculty Medical Nutrition Therapy Course

DEPARTMENT: Master of Science in Applied Clinical Nutrition

DIVISION: Academic Affairs

STATUS: Exempt

Note: As a member of our exempt workforce there could be occasions when a commitment beyond the normal workweek may be required.

Salary information: $1989.15/credit

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Dean of Online Education members of the faculty are responsible for the instruction of the online Master of Science in Applied Clinical Nutrition program curriculum to the masters students enrolled at Northeast College of Health Sciences. Members of the faculty may also participate in College governance scholarly activities professional development and research activities as time and interest allow.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Teaching

All faculty members are responsible for developing and delivering their course using appropriate and relevant scientific and technological resources. Faculty are also responsible for advising students with regard to their coursework and grade assigned papers/projects or presentations. As a lead instructor faculty have the primary responsibility for developing the course syllabi instructional materials examinations and for maintaining accurate classroom performance records for each student.


2. Governance

Faculty members may participate in the daily operation of the College as well as contribute to short and long range planning by actively working on various College committees and by attendance at Faculty Senate meetings.

Working with the Dean faculty members collaborate and assist in the establishment of the Master of Science in Applied Clinical Nutrition programs priorities goals policies and procedures consistent with the division of Academic Affairs and the mission of the College.


3. Scholarly Activity and Research


On an ongoing basis faculty are required to keep current with developments in their field of expertise as well as changes in the nutrition field. Faculty are to engage in continuing education that relates to both teaching and personal/professional development.

As time and interest allow faculty are to participate in research which is relevant to the program at Northeast or to their field of expertise. This research may be privately funded and/or sanctioned and funded by the College.

QUALIFICATIONS

First professional degree and/or a Ph.D. or masters degree in nutrition with documented expertise in the subject area. Previous or current private clinical nutrition practice experience is strongly desired if teaching a clinical nutrition course. A demonstrated aptitude for teaching is necessary previous online teaching experience is preferred. Post-graduate certification in nutrition is desirable.
