Interventional Radiology Tech
About Facility:
o 1 Medical Center Blvd Winston-Salem NC 27157
o 885 licensed beds
o Level 1 Trauma Designation
o Teaching Hospital: Yes Academic Medical Center
o Chest Pain Center
o Stroke Center
Department Information:
o How many rooms 1 designated room 2 possible float rooms
o Average patients/cases per day 5
o Minimum Years of Experience required minimum 1 year (post-graduation and/or minimum 1-year OTJ) must have IR Tech experience
o Will you accept a first-time traveler Yes (with strong experience)
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Interventional Radiology Comprehensive Stroke Center
o Cancer Tumors Occlusions-Peripheral Carotid IVC SVC etc.
o Body: Angiography and aneurysm repair (aortic and thoracic) peripheral vascular interventions bypasses endarterectomies (will discuss further during interview)
Required License National Certification Certifications (BLS ACLS NIHSS etc.) or other position specific requirements such as Drivers License and/or Insurance:
o BLS
o ARRT(R) minimum prefer VI or CV
RCIS with vascular rotations/experience is also acceptable
Skills required:
o Tech should be experienced with IR/Vascular and willing to work in the OR to meet the needs of this position. Scrubbing and assisting in procedures; Circulating-operating equipment providing needed supplies
o Angiography skills and experience assisting in all discussed procedures; being able to circulate/operate/explain/direct use of equipment on a back table; being knowledgeable about equipment and supplies; trouble shooting room (minor issues)
Support within the Department:
o Tech extenders 3 currently on staff (rotate thru dept. transport/inventory)
2 per day
o 2 Techs per Room
o 4 Neuro providers Neuro Radiologist and 3 surgeons
o 5 Body Docs
Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC Encompass
o Department specific Equipment: Siemens ARTIS Q GE Ultrasound
Floating: If yes where
o Traveler may cover (2) other rooms depending on case load
Orientation (facility and unit):
o Up to 2 weeks in department based on experience and comfort level
Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: every 4th weekend on call (0700-0700)
o Call required:
2 days per week 1600 until the last case is complete
Call begins 1700 on weekdays 0700-0700 on weekends. Schedule fluctuates and can be discussed further with hiring manager in the final interview.
o Holiday Expectations: must work if scheduled
o RTO: Manager approval
