Job Description
Location: Wilsonville AL
Contract- 1 Year
Client- Alabama Power
Position Summary:We are seeking a skilled and motivated Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Technician to support operations at our power generation facility. This role is responsible for maintaining troubleshooting and configuring control systems and instrumentation to ensure safe and efficient plant performance. The ideal candidate will have experience with DCS PLCs and turbine control systems along with strong technical and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:-
Maintain calibrate and troubleshoot plant instrumentation and control systems

Support daily operations of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) Turbine Control Systems (TCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

Perform diagnostics and corrective actions on control system issues to minimize downtime

Assist in configuring and updating control programs and logic

Interpret and work from control schematics blueprints and technical manuals

Respond to call-out assignments on a rotating weekly basis including nights weekends and holidays

Support plant startup shutdown and operational procedures as required

Communicate effectively with operations engineering and maintenance teams to ensure alignment and safe practices

Associate degree in Electronics Instrumentation or related field; OR a two-year technical certification; OR equivalent experience in I&C systems

Strong working knowledge of DCS TCS and PLC systems

Experience with Emerson Ovation is preferred

Familiarity with GE Mark VIe is a plus

Ability to understand boiler controls and power plant systems

Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Strong teamwork orientation and ability to work independently under pressure

A four-year degree from an ABET-accredited program in Electrical Mechanical or Instrumentation Engineering

Willingness and availability for rotating on-call responsibilities including nights weekends and holidays
-
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (e.g. confined spaces elevated work areas temperature extremes)
