Job Location: San Juan Puerto Rico
This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent I International SOS Government Medical Services Inc. and provide services outlined below:
International SOS Government Medical Services Inc. is looking for an individual who is an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon to perform surgical procedures on the heart lungs and other thoracic structures to treat a range of conditions such as heart disease lung cancer and esophageal disorders. This role encompasses preoperative evaluation complex surgical interventions and postoperative care to enhance patient outcomes and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive clinical Cardiothoracic Surgery services including but not limited to the following: VATs Lobectomys thoracotomy diaphragm plication chest wall hernia repair decortication pleurectomy chest tube management w/tPA. along with other complex Cardiothoracic surgery procedures.
- Be present on time scheduled clinic start times as documented.
- Provide notification of test results for patients receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088 Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
- Follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
- Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings with committee participation.
- Complete the appropriate QM/PI documentation pertaining to all procedures complications and outcome of examinations.
- Follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care.
- Complete required organizational compliance education including assigned requirements that are client-specified for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications :
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
- Current active full and unrestricted license as a physician from a State the District of Columbia the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or a territory of the United States.
- Must possess at least four years of continuous work experience within the last five years.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Education Required:
- Doctor of Medicine Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association Association of American Medical Colleges Liaison Committee on Medical Education Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
- Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
- Must be able to read write and speak English to effectively communicate.
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicants background experience skills internal equity and alignment with geographical market data.
