Job Description
Working hours are Monday - Friday 12pm - 8pm.
As a Shift Leader you will support the management team in the day-to-day operations and organisation of the laboratory ensuring samples are processed accurately promptly and efficiently for required testing while maintaining high standards of compliance with Health and Safety Quality System and Customer requirements.
Main Duties
- Ensure Health and Safety is at the forefront of every laboratory activity.
- Drive continuous improvement of laboratory operations while maintaining the requirements of quality management system.
- Assist with daily planning of Departments workload to ensure customer deadlines are met and continually improve TATs against all internal and sub-contracted tests.
- Co-ordinating participation in External Proficiency schemes to ensure that the scope of accreditation is effectively covered across all testing disciplines.
- Ensure the timely investigation of customer complaints queries and other sources of non- conforming work.
- Perform testing as required to ensure customer and operational needs are met.
- Manage the operations of the late shift ensuring customer requirements are met while managing Health and Safety of the staff.
- Complete departmental validations release timely analytical reports.
- Be the lead to manage the full cycle of sub-contracted samples from delivery to reporting and any queries coming out from the customer.
- Manage customer queries and be the bridge between the customer and the laboratory management.
- To uphold and maintain company and customer confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain accurate and systematic records in accordance with documented procedures.
- Proactively support maintenance of QMS to meet INAB/ISO17025 and customer requirements.
- Proactively investigate any faults or problems and if not resolved report findings to Management without delay.
- Proactively assist with and propose new technologies and innovate solutions to support the ongoing technical and operational development of the department.
- Ensuring that excellent standards of housekeeping and hygiene are maintained at all times according to stipulated procedures.
Qualifications :
- Proven experience of working in a laboratory.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task prioritize organise and co-ordinate the workload effectively with the team.
- Ability to think critically and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work as a team and lead by example.
