AbbVie Process Chemistry Department is seeking a Senior Scientist II. This role will be in the Radiochemistry group which specializes in the synthesis of radiolabeled APIs using long half-life beta-emitting isotopes. These compounds support screening assays and metabolism studies that are critical to advancing drug development. This role requires expertise in both process chemistry and radiochemistry.
Key responsibilities:
The candidate will contribute to and may lead project teams focused on process development and characterization of radiolabeled small molecules peptides antibody drug conjugates and other emerging modalities.
o Develop and optimize radiolabeling strategies for peptides and related compounds.
o Collaborate across functions to support the purification isolation and formulation of radiolabeled drug substances peptides and other modalities.
o Set project strategies and provide leadership in a cross-functional team environment.
This position will require experience with cGMP activities related to the preparation of radiolabeled API to comply with corporate and regulatory standards.
Demonstrated expertise in transition metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions reaction development and hydrogen isotope exchange. Proven ability to overcome key project challenges by applying strong technical knowledge and data-driven problem-solving.
Contribute to the strategic direction of the group by identifying new development opportunities and incorporating external scientific advancements in collaboration with peers subordinates and senior leadership. Provide mentorship and guidance to staff in addressing both strategic challenges and experimental troubleshooting.
Proactively stay current with scientific literature and incorporate relevant insights into ongoing projects and broader program strategy.
Demonstrated flexibility to support Process Chemistry pipeline projects and Radiochemistry group labeling deliveries as capacity demands require.
This role may include managing direct reports.
