This Security Officer 2 position supervises leads directs and mentors a shift of armed security officers providing security services to Silverbell Army Heliport (SBAHP) facilities to protect against threats that would justify use of force to include deadly force. Responsible for overseeing all shift activities and related administrative actions; conducts Security Officer training as required.
Responsibilities include:
Perform duties of Security Officer I including but not limited to; entry control patrols restoring order when required detention and/or apprehension of trespasses or persons identified as a risk search(s) for person(s) conducting criminal acts and/or other violations provides assistance to evacuate/secure installation infrastructure in the event of an emergency. Review and sign SO1 PD.
Supervise lead direct and mentor a shift of armed security officers providing security services for the installation. Coordinate all shift activities such as managing leave requests scheduling conducting briefings and organizing shift actives and duty assignments.
Ensure all personnel on the assigned shift have the required equipment and are properly trained in duties and responsibilities for the assigned position. Serves as the Field Training Officer (FTO) for new hires assigned to their shift. Approve electronic time entry for assigned personnel.
Direct security guard services for Flight line operations at AASF #2 WAATS and Peace Vanguard. Interact with foreign nationals in support of Peace Vanguard. Assist the State/Territory Command Physical Security Officer with physical security inspections risk analysis and surveys.
Directly interact with tenant units to support the requested security requirements for additional activities. Support AZ ARNG senior leadership through directing security operations for high profile events. Answer and respond to dispatch calls from authorized authorities. Respond to alarm activations at any/all secure vaults containing sensitive equipment and/or munitions.
Provide information to civic/public and/or government identified visitors and direct traffic management through designated traffic plans and/or parking areas consistent with force protection measures as prescribed by regulation and/or installation policies. Serves as Incident Commander of emergencies until relieved IAW NIMS/ICS.
Review written reports of subordinate personnel for completeness and accuracy taking follow up action as required. Prepare performance appraisals complete appreciation forms and initiate progressive disciplinary measures as required. Assists the hiring manager with interview potential candidates. Assists with DEMA asset property inventory.
Knowledge of:
General Access Control Point operating procedures patrol operations and emergency response
Applying search & seizure arrest use of force procedures
Must possess a functional knowledge of personal computer operations in a network environment
Electronic devices (i.e. radio and communications computers monitors recording and photography) and other security equipment
Standardized federal laws regulations methods procedures operating techniques state and local laws to perform tasks including but not limited to pursuing and apprehending persons fleeing a crime scene; performing dispatcher duties involving passing of directions and information to officers on posting assignments; seeking detecting and protecting evidence and witnesses at the scene of an incident; and detaining witnesses and suspects
Ability to comprehend a wide variety of security fire and environmental alarm systems and the action appropriate in the event of their activation
Firearms and tactics utilized in emergency situations
Understand and follow Army Regulation (AR) Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (DEMA) Directives Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) policy letters and other written guidance
Principles and practices of supervision and leading a team in law enforcement duties
Skilled in:
Effectively and professionally interact with installation personnel and civilians in person and telephonic
Thorough understanding of the English language and the ability to communicate both orally and in writing
Safety with advance operations of weapons
Safety in the operation of security vehicles
Performance of all job duties and responsibilities in a safe and effective manner - mitigating risk to oneself and others
Reading and comprehending complex written documents policies and interpreting how those policies should be applied locally
Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
Application of law enforcement duties to include but not limited to report writing detainment appropriate use of force sound judgment and decisiveness
Supervisory skills in mentoring and coaching employees
Knowledge and skills to apply conflict resolution
Ability to:
Apply various levels of force in compliance with policy regulations or procedure
Demonstrate the ability to physically perform assigned duties
Carry and operate a firearm and/or additional weapons (lethal and nonlethal) and demonstrate a high level of proficiency competence and safety
Safely operate vehicles and state issued equipment
Render first aid
Maintain confidence and composure in high stress situations
Monitor and respond to security equipment including but not limited to Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Intrusion Detection System (IDS) phone and radios
Maintain good civil order of visitors and residents and guard against trespassers and prevent damage to property
Maintain a working knowledge of Department of Emergency Management directives operating procedures and orders in relation to security
Provide Security Enforcement at special events
Oversee a variety of administrative functions
Communicate instructions to subordinate personnel while keeping supervisor informed on all matters pertaining to security
Work variable shifts including evenings nights weekends and holidays
Desired qualifications include any combination of experience education and training that meets the knowledge skills and abilities as described. The preferred candidate for this position possesses and Arizona (DPS) Guard Card has 3 years experience working within the Military Police former law enforcement or Security field. Has certification in Physical Security Courses and Anti Terrorism Courses.
Special Job Requirements:
This position requires possession of and ability to retain a current valid Arizona state-issued drivers license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R.12.)
In State travel required.
Candidates for this position will be required to submit to a criminal background investigation as well as possess the ability to achieve a favorable Tier 3 investigation for the purpose of obtaining/maintaining a Secret clearance eligibility and Common Access Card (CAC) within one year of hire.
Must be able to qualify on all assigned and issued weapons to include lethal and less than lethal.
