Technical Support Technician
Position Description:
The Technical Support Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of computers chromebooks laptops tablets other mobile devices interactive white panels boards projectors and other wired and wireless devices that attach to the JPS Network. The Technical Support Technician will also assist in the maintenance of software and operating systems running on hardware connected to network. The primary task of the Technical Support Technician is to ensure technical issues are resolved by providing direct assistance to district employees at their work site.

Scope of Responsibility:
- Supports maintains and repairs all district and school based technology as required.
- Works closely with the technology infrastructure staff the Help Desk and other members of the Technical Support team when responding to site-based hardware/software issues as they occur.
- Creates a customer service-oriented culture in the Jefferson Parish Schools.
- Installs hardware (including peripherals) and software when required.
- Assists in the resolution of communication problems within the network when needed.
- Responds to network administration tasks as directed.
- Completes appropriate paperwork documenting all fieldwork performed and inputs this data into our ticket system.
- Participates in Technology Department professional development opportunities to keep skills current.
- Develops specialized technology skill as assigned by the Director of Technology and participates in cross training with other technical support team members to resolve problems in areas of specialization.
- Maintains security of electronic and print records with regard to confidentiality of student information and passwords that are issued for access to databases.
- Ensures that direct technical support is provided in a professional and timely manner to district employees.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Director of Technology.
Skills and Qualifications:

- Bachelors Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Graduate of an accredited technical school with course work concentration in electronics or a related field or a minimum of one year of documented experience with computers and networks.
- High School graduate or GED required.
- A Certification Microsoft Certification preferred or equivalent work experience
- Documented experience with the following operating system: MS Windows and Google Sheets.
- 3 years of experience in technology.
- Remote Support experience.
- Active Directory experience.
- Chromebook experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Prior experience with Ethernet Topology.
- Microsoft Certification.
- Google Sheets
- Dell Tech Direct Certification.
Physical Involvement:
Continuous movement is required most of each workday. Standing walking reaching bending and lifting up to seventy five pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools work locations and meeting sites. Must possess mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work areas.
