We are looking for an experienced manager to oversee and lead Markels US compliance team. Seeking someone with strategic vision regulatory expertise and strong leadership that can drive the teams performance and provide complianct solutions for business partners. Internally this role involves identifying legal and compliance risks developing policies managing budgets collaborating with compliance teams and providing guidance to compliance staff. This position seeks someone with a strategic vision that will mature the teams performance through effective communication with business partners and external authorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business units underwriting claims and operations to address compliance concerns and integrate expectations into business processes.
  • Identify and assess legal and compliance risks within the organization
  • Review assess and update company policies procedures and controls to ensure alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop implement and maintain effective compliance policies programs and procedures to solve for compliance risk.
  • Manage the compliance budget and ensure efficient allocation of resources.
  • Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to compliance staff on various compliance matters and oversee compliance related training programs for employees.
  • Ensure effective communication with business partners and external authorities.
  • Serve as point of contact for regulators and external auditors.
  • Monitor and report on compliance activities and initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in compliance
  • Strong knowledge of compliance best practices and familiarity with regulatory agencies.
  • Experience in developing and managing a compliance program preferably in a multi-state environment.
  • Ability to interpret complex compliance concerns and translate them into practical business guidance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Experience in managing budgets and resources effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Hybrid schedule in Richmond office
