Functional Description:


Davis Defense Group Inc. (DDG) is seeking a Communications Subject Matter Expert (SME)/Editor to support the Enlisted College Distance Education Program (ECDEP) U.S. Marine Corps College of Distance Education and Training (CDET) in Quantico Virginia. This position will support the development of onsite and online distance education curriculum for Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) and Staff Noncommissioned Officer (SNCO) Professional Military Education (PME).


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with MCU College of Enlisted Military Education Course Directors to ensure currency of course content materials and adapt resident curriculum into distance education curriculum using the CDET curriculum development process.
  • Revise and update communications courseware including assessments and faculty development materials according to CDETs course development schedules.
  • Answer questions from the field on all aspects of communications lessons.
  • Participate in annual MCU faculty development sessions.
  • Assist with the review and edit of products targeted to different audiences in a variety of areas including administration communications military concepts leadership and ethics.
  • Assist course directors in collecting and reporting results of Course Content Review Boards (CCRB).
  • Work collaboratively with CDET staff curriculum developers media specialists and students to provide writing and composition advice/assistance and instruction.
  • Provide support to the CDET online writing center including development of online writing tools and courses for students and faculty.
  • Teach an online essay fundamentals class multiple times annually for specified programs.

Required Experience:

  • Experience developing/delivering communications curriculum to adult learners.
  • Experience editing proofreading and fact-checking products for accuracy consistency and conformity to style and tone across digital web and multimedia platforms.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office365 and Adobe suite applications.

Desired Experience:

  • Understanding and implementing client style guides for identity guidelines usage and formatting.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS e.g. Moodle).
  • Familiarity with curriculum development software e.g. Lectora QuestionMark etc.
  • Prior military experience or experience supporting the military.

Education Requirements:


BA/BS in Communications English or a related discipline.
