Purpose
Training guiding developing evaluating and mentoring staff members; establishing and monitoring deadlines; reviewing work for accuracy and compliance with procedures; meeting with teams weekly; meeting with individual team members monthly; creating development plans for team members.
Ensuring compliance with financial statement delivery on or before the 25th of the following month.
Partnering with both internal and external customers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of a team of approximately 5 accounting professionals
- Train guide develop and mentor team members to help them achieve their highest potential.
- Reviews of monthly financial statements and the associated workpapers and reconciliations produced by Senior & Staff Accountants.
- Make comprehensive notes and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Analyzes any monthly variances and informs the VP of HOA Accounting of any unusual items
- Ensure all HOA GLs are closed by the 25th Calendar Day (CD) of the following month.
- Assist Staff Accountants with any special analysis requested by Operations Board members Developers Auditors or other 3rd parties.
- Guides and directs individual team members regarding complex accounting entries and in finding potential posting errors.
- Meet as a team and with individual team members regularly.
- Actively engage in supervisor meetings.
- Assist and mentor Staff Accountants with their annual HOA 3rd party audits.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
- Work with Staff Accountants to ensure all taxes are paid timely and accurately.
- Train new staff.
- Set up accounting and transition new resorts onto the Acumatica platform.
- Partner with internal & external customers.
- Become knowledgeable with duties associated with the VP of Finance as to be able to assume those duties should the need arise.
- Back up for their team due to attrition PTO leave of absence etc.
- Other duties and/or special projects that may arise.

Job Requirements
Education Essential Training / Certifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience with general accounting practices principles and standards.
- 3-5 years experience in accounting field.
- Supervisory experience is preferred
- At least 2 years of demonstrated automated general ledger accounting experience.
- At least 5 years of intermediate level experience with spreadsheet applications.
Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
- Ability to proficiently speak with Senior Leadership
- Knowledge of Sage 500 and Acumatica desirable
- Attention to detail
- Ability to compile data for reporting
- Ability to complete tasks on a timely basis and meet deadlines

- Intermediate proficiency in applications of word processing accounting and spreadsheet software
