Job Description

The ideal candidate at minimum must have the following:

OPTION 1:

  • Completion of undergraduate core program in social or behavioral science to include 2 courses in social research methods (i.e. analysis of variance; multiple regression; survey methods & theory of scientific research or comparable methodology); 3 yrs. trg. or 3 yrs. exp. in application of social research methods which included both of the following: 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in computer operations (e.g. Microsoft Office; Microsoft Access; Statistical Access; Statistical Analysis System SAS; Statistical Package for Social Sciences SPSS); 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in supervisory principles & techniques.

Option 2:

  • 5 yrs. exp. in social or behavioral science which included 3 yrs. exp. in application of social research methods (e.g. analysis of variance; multiple regression; survey methods & theory of scientific research); 12 mos. exp. in computer operations (e.g. Microsoft Office; Microsoft Access; Statistical Access; Statistical Analysis System SAS; Statistical Package for Social Sciences SPSS); 12 mos. exp. in supervisory principles & techniques; 12 mos. exp. in social research methods.


Option 3:

  • 1 yr. exp. as Labor Market Program Supervisor 1 66335.


Or

  • Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohios E1 Pay Schedule Pay Range 14. Unless required by legislation or union contract starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1 currently $39.22 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.

What Youll Do

In this positionyou will be part of the Bureau of Labor Market Information (LMI). LMI is responsible for producing employment statistics and projections under the direction of the U.S. Department of Labors Bureau of Labors Employment and Training Administration (ETA).

The supervisor for Workforce Research section works independently and reports to the Assistant Bureau Chief of LMI responsible for ETA programs.

Job Duties:

Manage the Workforce Research program.

Supervise Researcher 3 positions including work assignments annual performance evaluations and developing suitable goals.

Plan organize and direct the preparation production and publication of statewide short-term industry and occupation projections and long-term statewide and substate industry and occupational projections as directed by the ETA.

Manage the data collection and production of special reports or projects (e.g. Ohio Leading indicators Ohio Annual Economic Report Ohio Licensure database Ohio Labor Market Overview Annual Declining Industries analysis)

Oversee the population and maintenance of the workforce information database (WIDb)

Represent the Office of Workforce Development Bureau or LMI at conferences and meetings and make public presentations.
