Objective:
The objective of this contract is to acquire a Virtualization Engineer III (Nutanix HCI and NetApp) with expert knowledge of Nutanix NetApp and Virtualization products. The client heavily relies on Nutanix NetApp and Virtualization products to support. The services these technologies provide are considered mission-critical to the Institute and therefore require a contractor with proven experience supporting these systems in the Client environment
A Virtualization Engineer III (Nutanix HCI and NetApp) should possess at a minimum:
- NetApp Certified SAN Implementation Engineer (NCIE-SAN)
- NetApp Certified Data Management Administrator (NCDA)
- Nutanix Platform Expert (NPX)
Subject matter expert in the areas of:
a) Systems Administration
- Oversees data center operations and administrations of servers and NAS storage systems; Configures manages troubleshoots and ensures availability of systems as per industry standards.
- Manages Active Directory accounts privileges and network access daily using IAM and ADM system management tools.
- Administer and manage Quantum DXI disk-based storage.
- Plans installs and administers data protection solutions
- Manage Veeam backups for protecting virtual servers
- Perform regular backups and restore servers when needed.
IT Security compliance
- Conduct security patch management of servers which included identifying required Windows Microsoft updates and non-Microsoft patches deploying relevant patches hotfixes security updates and generating patch reports to management.
- Review IT System Syslogs and assess critical events to remediate vulnerabilities.
b) Nutanix Administration:
- Evaluate specifications and features of Nutanix support of all enterprise workloads and use-cases across private clouds AHV hypervisors and containers to ensure delivery of compute storage database and virtual network services.
- Experience in planning the installation and configuration of the Nutanix clusters at customers primary and secondary sites. Proficient with below activities.
- Understands Layer 2 Virtual/Physical network for Nutanix Cluster
- Performs Rack installation and in-rack cabling
- Cluster deployment & configuration including firmware and hypervisor when needed.
- Hypervisor cluster deployment & configuration.
- Hypervisor virtual switch configuration
- Asynchronous Disaster Recovery Configuration
- Test and validation of failover and restore of test VMs when needed.
- Administer Installed and configured 3-node Prism Central appliances at the primary and secondary locations to manage the Nutanix Clusters virtual machines to facilitate a single centralized management interface.
- AdministerConfigured Nutanix Leap Disaster Recovery (DR) solution to protect and recover applications; Implemented Data protection and DR capabilities; Create recovery plans to react to disasters and ensure continuation of operations.
- Plan and execute Nutanix LCM security updates that include firmware and software; Manage the installation and integration of system fixes updates and enhancements.
- Administere Designed and implemented business continuity component (disaster recovery data protection backup and restoration).
- Nutanix Leap Disaster Recovery: An Engineer should have experience in the configuration and implementation of Nutanix Leap DR solution that helps administrators to plan test and run the recovery of virtual machines between a protected site and a recovery site. Oversee planning and testing of the failover/failback of selected Virtual machines in the protection domain.
c) NetApp Storage Administration
- The engineer should have conducted performance compatibility and Interoperability Matrix using NetApp utilities to determine supported configurations of NetApp products across key components in the enterprise environment.
- Oversee the administration of the NetApp storage clusters; Configured and managed storage resources and protected NetApp Flex volumes; Managed NetApp storage administrator access and user accounts.
- Manage NetApp Snap Mirror nodes a disaster recovery technology for failover from primary storage to secondary storage at remote site using SVM-DR technology.
- Manage Snap Vault nodes archiving technology at the colocation site for long-term storage.
- Execute NetApp SVM Disaster Recovery operations to failover from the primary site to the secondary site and fail back in the event of disasters.
