Job Description
As a Senior Data Architect supporting transportation technology initiatives you will lead the design and governance of enterprise-level data and information architecture across the Transportation Operations ecosystem. This role will drive the creation of standard data models database structures and API/event contracts to ensure secure scalable and high-performance data solutions aligned with Amtraks enterprise architecture. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including business analysts developers architects and operations stakeholders to enhance system interoperability and data integrity across a complex portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Design implement and maintain enterprise data architecture for Transportation Operations systems
Develop and govern standard information/data models including relational NoSQL event-driven and API schemas
Evaluate and recommend data technologies and tools to meet system performance integrity and security requirements
Lead database and query performance tuning efforts across platforms
Ensure consistency and integrity of data across distributed systems and applications
Mentor team members on data architecture standards and best practices
Support solutioning activities and collaborate with business clients and technical teams
Research emerging information technologies and contribute to future-state architecture planning
Define and enforce data governance policies and database management procedures
Align solutions with Amtraks Enterprise Information Management (EIM) standards
Qualifications:
15 years of experience in data architecture information design and database modeling
Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL technologies; expertise in distributed systems and middleware
Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka and Schema Registry
Prior experience with data architecture in transportation or rail systems strongly preferred
Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field required; Masters degree preferred
Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as DMBOK and BIZBOK is a plus
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
