Job Description

WAREHOUSE TECHNICIAN
Job Title: Warehouse Technician
FLSA Classification:Hourly Non-Exempt
Reports to: Senior Operations Leader
Schedule: Monday Friday; 7:30 am 5:00 pm pm and other hours as required by need (example: weather disasters or special events)
Position Summary:
SHSG Warehouse Technicians are responsible for a wide variety of distribution center duties. These include receiving product movement processing disposal and order picking. As part of the Operations Team all members are responsible for ensuring food safety cleanliness and workplace safety in compliance with SHSG guidelines.

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures contents are properly secured inside vehicles to prevent damage
  • Pick palletize prepare and load product safely to prevent product damage
  • Informs warehouse management of any discrepancies of quantity and/or product quality
  • Maintains positive relationships with food donors and recipients
  • Stocks products ensuring organization proper label identification and allergen compliance
  • Fully understands how to operate and safely drive assigned vehicles
  • Maintains food safety standards including temperature control
  • Assists with weighing product loading and unloading at warehouses
  • Keeps work area tidy and maintains cleanliness according to AIB procedures Feeding America guidelines and industry regulations
  • Works cooperatively with others including staff supervisors co-workers and agencies
  • Maintains workplace safety in all aspects of the job particularly warehouse equipment and assigned vehicles
  • Consistently represents the Food Bank in a professional manner exhibiting excellent customer service
  • Safely operates forklift hand truck manual/electric jack pallet wrapping machine compactors and other tools/machines as appropriate
  • Attends all meetings workshops and/or trainings as directed
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Good writing and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills and able to send and receive emails
  • Must be able to complete job application and resume submittal via online system as it is a portion of the computer skills evaluation
  • Strategic thinking with ability to multi-task facilities and AIB duties
  • Provide services in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Skilled in the safe use of power tools for grounds maintenance and snow removal
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions
  • Communicate effectively with clients donors coworkers and the public
  • Ability to work as a team and individually
  • Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure
  • Strong work ethic diversity professionalism and dependability
  • Possess problem solving skills and have attention to detail
  • Ability to work some evenings and/or weekends for pre-planned events
Mandatory Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Three or more years of cleaning and sanitation experience
  • Genuine appreciation of SHSGs mission and the ability to communicate it
  • Successful completion of Warehouse Inventory and Math Assessment
  • Food industry experience highly preferred
  • Mechanical and/or Electrical experience highly preferred
  • Forklift operation (certification may be obtained through SHSG)
Certificates Licenses Registrations
  • Must have valid drivers license (this is not a CDL required position)
  • Successfully complete SERVSAFE Food Safety certification within first twelve months of onboarding
  • Must be able to pass background checks MVR checks drug screens and fit-for duty testing
Physical Demands
  • Required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and taste or smell
  • Required to climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to operate all vehicles excluding commercial safely always
Work Environment
  • Noise level moderate
  • Usually works in a warehouse setting
  • Frequently operates vehicles
SHSG is considered an essential response organization in times of disaster. As such Team Members are expected to report to SHSG locations as required after securing the safety of their families and may be asked to perform duties that are critical (but outside of their regularly assigned duties) in times of disaster.
