Job Description

What youll do:

The Assistant Disciplinary Counsel will be responsible for investigating and prosecuting lawyers judges and magistrates accused of ethical misconduct and individuals alleged to have engaged in the unauthorized practice of law.

The Assistant Disciplinary Counsel will manage an active caseload represent Disciplinary Counsel in hearings before the Board of Professional Conduct and Board on the Unauthorized Practice of Law and argue objections before the Supreme Court of Ohio.

The Assistant Disciplinary Counsel will assist in educating the bench and bar through CLE presentations training sessions and other outreach initiatives.

The position requires occasional travel throughout the state. The outside practice of law is prohibited.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel seeks to hire an inspired positive and collaborative litigator for the position of Assistant Disciplinary Counsel. The candidate must have a law degree from an ABA-accredited law school be admitted and in good standing in Ohio or another state* and have practiced law for a minimum of seven years. The ideal candidate will possess a strong and proven courtroom presence a commitment to the highest ethical standards and the desire to join a dedicated and collaborative team of professionals. This position reports directly to the Disciplinary Counsel.

What we are looking for

An attorney registered as active and in good standing in Ohio or another state.*

A minimum of seven years experience as a practicing lawyer proven success as a courtroom litigator and a command of the Rules of Evidence.

A strong understanding of the Rules of Professional Conduct the Code of Judicial Conduct and the Rules for the Government of the Bar.

Exceptional interpersonal skills and a belief in the power of cooperation.

A sophisticated and articulate oral advocate.

A talented and persuasive writer.

A highly motivated and positive individual with strong listening analytical and organizational skills.

A strong commitment to public service and the highest ethical and professional standards.

The starting salary range for the Assistant Disciplinary Counsel position is $106470 - $115470 depending on experience plus an excellent benefits package.
