Job Function:
The Paralegal provides legal and administrative support to ensure Companys compliance with applicable federal state and local laws and regulations. This role involves preparing legal documents developing and improving all policies and procedures managing governance reporting compliance managing public records requests supporting school leadership and responsible for board governance.
Duties:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Conduct legal research on education law labor law special education and charter regulations.
Collaborate with all stakeholders to develop update and improve policies and procedures. Provide training on policies and procedures as necessary.
Ensure all policies and procedures comply with all applicable federal state and local laws rules and regulations. Oversee implementation of all established policies and procedures.
Manage compliance inquiries and update policies and procedures accordingly.
Ensure timely compliance with governance reporting requirements.
Ensure timely compliance with the board governance requirements.
Coordinate preparation for the board meetings including preparing a board meeting agenda posting requirements and organizational matters.
Coordinate responses to subpoenas public records requests and internal investigations.
Provide thorough and timely reports data and information as requested by the General Counsel.
Manage special projects assigned by the General Counsel.
Maintain and organize legal and compliance files.
Assist General Counsel with other duties and responsibilities.
Skills/Qualifications
Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university.
Minimum three (3) years of experience as a paralegal with experience in education government or non-profit highly preferred.
Familiarity with education law and charter school operations is highly preferred.
Working knowledge of Skyward Q is preferred.
Strong organizational research writing and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Work Environment
This position is on-site at the Central Office of the Company.
Requires travel to and from school campuses.
