Purpose of Position:
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Data Scientist with a strong focus in computer vision to join our growing team. In this role you will play a critical part in advancing our understanding of our products and customers through the application of cutting-edge data science and computer vision techniques. You will collaborate closely with our Machine Learning (ML) team to rigorously test and validate the effectiveness of various models ensuring their accuracy and reliability. Furthermore you will actively support data measurement activities related to our product systems. Your insights will be instrumental in guiding product development decisions and improving the overall user satisfaction. Primary Responsibilities: - Act as business field team lead; build end user relationships and identify transition customers; Execute projects that lead to follow-on work.
- Manage potentially complex projects; use SOW and estimating techniques to forecast tasking and create project schedules; manage project budgets
- Develop research plan and convey results.
- Plan and conduct human factors research and end user evaluations of interactive systems/product concepts analyze data and document evaluation methods; create tables charts figures etc. and support interpretation of data for technical report and manuscript publication.
- Prepare technical reports summaries and quantitative analyses of assigned research projects.
- Contribute to writing manuscripts for publications
- Research literature related to specific projects or proposals.
- Maintain current knowledge of the evolving field of Human Factors including critical topic areas (e.g. perceptual skills decision making situational awareness neurophysiology cognitive modeling leadership critical thinking culture emotion trust multimodal interaction team performance usability etc.) methodologies and tools as they relate to DIs practice areas of Performance Assessment Training Systems Cognitive Readiness and Next Generation Human Systems Integration.
- Lead knowledge elicitation sessions with subject manager experts.
- Translate user needs into detailed requirements specifications and design documents ensuring requirements are properly represented and the appropriate level of user participation is achieved.
- Manage risk by identifying quantifying and monitoring potential threats to the project.
- Develop Statement of Work for winning bid proposals; provide task breakdown and schedule estimates to support proposal cost creation.
- Promote products and services at various customer locations and functions.
- Can be designated as a Lead assuming responsibility for managing coordinating and monitoring all or a subset of projects within an R&D portfolio.
- Lead is awarded to qualifying candidates who have demonstrated excellence in strategic planning project management customer relations and team supervision and mentoring.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: - Independently design build and evaluate computer vision models for tasks such as object detection classification tracking pose estimation or image segmentation.
- Collaborate with ML Engineers to productionize and deploy models into real-time or batch processing systems.
- Develop reusable pipelines and tools to facilitate model training validation and inference at scale.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to define computer vision success metrics and monitor model performance post-deployment.
- Analyze image/video datasets to extract meaningful patterns and drive improvements in product capabilities.
- Contribute to data measurement frameworks to assess model effectiveness and product impact.
- Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Stay informed on the latest research and trends in computer vision and apply best practices to model development
Education:Masters or Ph.D in Related Field Experience:Minimum 6 yrs experience conducting in human factors research and development cognitive task analysis and gathering user-centered requirements from observational data
Travel: Position requires a minimum amount of local overnight and extended travel.
Physical Functions/Environment: Position requires a moderate to high amount of local overnight and extended travel. Physical requirements involve performing general office activities.
