This unpaid internship is specific to the current students of Law Program at University of Ottawa.

Location

This is a hybrid position in our headquarter in Kanata. More information will be provided during the interview.

About the Team

Youll join our collaborative Global IP & Legal team based in Kanata working alongside patent professionals and legal experts who actively safeguard our cutting edge software and AI innovations. This team is deeply embedded in R&D and corporate projectscreating a fast-paced intellectually stimulating environment where your legal research competitive intelligence and white-space analysis directly support strategic product decisions. Were committed to mentorship and growth and value curiosity and fresh perspectives from day one.

This is a part-time 3-month position starting September 2025.

What you will do

  • Legal research about subject matter eligibility in US and Canadian patent law with special reference to software applications
  • Preparation of competitive intelligence IP reports
  • White space analysis of potential products

What we are looking for

  • Basic knowledge of laws regarding patents and trade secrets
  • Familiarity with software and the basics of Artificial Intelligence
  • Good legal research skills
  • Willingness to learn
