Business Analyst (Finance Systems / Guidewire)
Exciting hybrid opportunity in Markham ON for a skilled Business Analyst with strong finance systems experience in the insurance industry. Leverage your expertise in SQL Guidewire and insurance accounting to drive impactful system enhancements. In-office presence required Monday to Wednesday.

Responsibilities:
Analyze and document business requirements for finance systems.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define scope prioritize system improvements and develop functional specifications.
Conduct gap analyses and process mapping to identify areas of improvement.
Ensure compliance with insurance accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Develop clear comprehensive business requirement documents and user stories.
Understand and work with Guidewire platforms (PolicyCenter BillingCenter or ClaimCenter).
Utilize mainframe constructs and ETL transformations in financial systems.
Write and execute SQL queries in Oracle and Postgres environments.
Analyze data impacts on profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
Participate in system testing and validation to ensure accuracy and functionality.
Create and deliver reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
Provide training and support to end-users on new system functionalities.
Monitor system performance and resolve technical or process-related issues.
Stay current on industry best practices tools and regulatory developments.
What you will need to succeed:
Post-secondary education in Finance Accounting Information Systems or a related field.
5 years of experience as a Business Analyst focused on finance systems.
Extensive experience in the insurance industry with knowledge of regulations such as IFRS17 OSFI GISA Facility Association and GAA.
Strong understanding of insurance accounting principles and practices.
Hands-on experience with Guidewire platforms (PolicyCenter BillingCenter or ClaimCenter).
Proficiency in SQL scripting and ability to query Oracle and Postgres databases.
Solid knowledge of mainframe constructs and ETL transformation processes.
Proficient in process mapping data modeling and maintaining data dictionaries.
Skilled in Microsoft Visio PowerPoint Excel and Word.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
