Minimum Education and or Experience:
A J.D. from an ABA accredited law school.
Preferred Education and or Experience
License to practice law and experience practicing law;
Experience with LSACs Unite database management system;
Knowledge of the curricular programs and culture of the law school;
At least three years of experience in higher education.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with the Dean of the Law School to determine enrollment and revenue goals that align with the law schools long-term objectives and vision;
Implement admission and scholarship strategies that will reach enrollment goals;
Use internal and external data including historical performance data related to the JD market competitor analysis and other business intelligence to inform all JD admissions strategies and activities. Maintains and prepares statistical data for institutional reports including but not limited to the ABA Questionnaire U.S. News & World Report information requests and other external and internal admissions data requests;
Provide input analysis and feedback on strategic planning budgeting and admissions policies and practices;
Work with the Alumni and Development Office to devise appropriate mechanisms for alumni involvement in admissions.Hire and manage full-time and part-time admissions office staff including but not limited to aDirector of Admissions anAdministrative Assistant andStudent Workers;
Oversee and manage department budget;
Strategically manages scholarship offers ensuring alignment with enrollment goals and enhancing the law schools appeal to candidates. Oversees the integrity of the scholarship awarding process for all law school scholarships. Oversees and plans the offices outreach to current and prospective students about the scholarship process.
Oversees the recruitment selection and training of the law student ambassador volunteer program;
Actively participate in proprietary system-wide development of software programs and/or enhancements as required. Lead the admissions office in converting to new software programs in whole or in part as needed. Work with system-wide departments and departments within the law school to efficiently and effectively manage and train for such conversions or updates especially IT professionals within and without the law school;
Review applications and work with the Admissions Committee to make admissions and scholarship decisions that are in line with the committees policy to enroll a pool of qualified applicants;
Meet with prospective and admitted students; ensure that all emails and phone calls directed to the admissions office are answered in a timely and appropriate manner;
Works with the Director of Communications to oversee management of the admissions portion of the law schools website admissions publications and communications plan;
Consult with the Financial Aid Office on timing and methods of disseminating financial aid information;
Works with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs to:
Enroll students pursuing a concurrent degree.
Recruit participants for the law schools conditional admission program and work with the Admissions Committee to determine which participants of the program should be admitted to the JD program.
Plan and execute student orientation of all 1Ls.
Make presentations to pre-law societies and prospective law student groups as well as various governing bodies as directed by the Dean of the law school;
Design and implement travel and recruitment schedules as part of the overall admissions plan;
Lead and participate in national regional and state-wide recruitment efforts including attendance at undergraduate law fairs law school forums and other recruiting events.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Strong supervisory organizational and administrative skills;
Experience in planning/executing prospective and admitted student events;
Ability and willingness to travel by plane and/or car including overnight and some weekends. Must possess a valid drivers license and be able to rent a vehicle without restriction.
