What Youll Do Key Responsibilities as an Environmental Specialist I
- Demonstrate strong understanding of field sampling methodologies environmental regulations and quality control/assurance protocols.
- Conduct environmental investigations site assessments visual inspections and compliance audits.
- Perform field inspections including sampling of soil water and air; well monitoring; and operation and maintenance of remediation systems.
- Independently oversee subcontractor field activities and coordinate with State and Federal regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate with laboratories for bottle orders sample submission and Chain-of-Custody documentation.
- Complete and adhere to required safety training and plans; may act as Site Safety Officer on projects.
- Conduct ASTM compliant Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESAs) and Phase II ESA field documentation.
- Prepare technical reports analytical data tables and collaborate on GIS mapping for project documentation.
- Conduct asbestos inspections quantifications reporting and air monitoring per state and federal regulations.
- Conduct hazardous materials inspections such as lead-based paint PCB-caulk and universal waste per state and federal regulations.
- Conduct mold inspections consistent with state requirements.
- Ensure QA/QC standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated environmental solutions.

Salary Range $58990-$66560

What You Bring Your Expertise as an Environmental Specialist I
- B.A. in Environmental Science B.S. in Environmental Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of related experience.
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-Hour with current 8-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER annual refresher.
- NYSDOL-Certified Asbestos Inspector or Licensed Asbestos Air Monitor a plus.
- NYSDOL-Certified Mold Assessor a plus.
- Willing to travel and work 10 hour field days in peak season.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Bluebeam PDF; experience with ArcGIS/View Survey123 preferred.
- Proven knowledge of sampling methods and environmental regulations and guide documents.
- Ability to read plans and understand building systems (HVAC insulation products).
- Experience reading and understanding GIS mapping contour mapping and data driven plume mapping.
- Ability to direct contractors drillers and other field subcontractors during field projects.

- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and distance
- Must be able to travel to various project sites.
- Must be able to access and navigate construction sites and job areas.
- Must pass respirator medical clearance and respirator fit test.
- Must be able to wear a respirator for required work occasionally for extended periods of times.
- Must be comfortable wearing project-specific level of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as Tyvek suits nitrile gloves safety glasses hard hat and steel toe boots.
- Must be able to work in environmental conditions including office environment field environment construction site environment; exposure to dust noise grease smoke fumes gases heat cold and inclement weather conditions when working in the field.
