Qualifications:-Bachelors degree and Massachusetts DESE ESL Licensure-Educational training beyond the Bachelors degree with prior teaching experienceReporting Relationships:Reports to and Supervised by Building Principal and Director of Curriculum ELA/Social StudiesGeneral Responsibilities:Provides maximum educational opportunities for limited English proficient students who enter school so that they may access the curriculum and achieve facility in written and spoken Responsibilities:-Demonstrates knowledge of English Language Development (ELD) instruction.-Develops curricula and designs instruction based upon the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Benchmarks and Outcomes.-Maintains currency on methods trends and materials in ELD instruction.-Supports sheltered English immersion classroom teachers.-Follows all policies and procedures as outlined in the district ELL Handbook.-Meets monthly with ELD department and the Director of Instructional Services.-Meets monthly with the ELD department.-Attends one building faculty meeting per month.-Participates in professional and educational activities that will enhance professional growth.-Collaborates with the ELD Coordinator and the Director of Instructional Services to plan professional development offerings for general education teachers. -Collaborates with the ELD department and the Office of Instructional Services to update the ELL Handbook-Maintains communication with principals ELD personnel and Director of Instructional Services regarding ELD activities (assessment professional development program/materials adoption student needs).-Assumes responsibility for all additional professional duties as may be assigned by the Building Principal and /or Director of Instructional Services. Terms of Employment:Ten months per year. Salary and Benefits as per FEA contract.
