The Boiler Operators main function of responsibility is to keep the Boiler running and operational. This may include starting the Boiler regulating and monitoring maintenance repair testing and occasional shut-down of the Boiler and related machinery. Other duties will include maintaining and cleaning the Shop area waste plant courtyard and silt system.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain Boiler according to established regulations and guidelines.
- Operate and maintain waste plant according to established regulatins and guidelines.
- Assist with feed trcks upon arrival.
- Operate and maintain silt system according to established regaltios and guidelines.
- Pump mud from silts system as required.
- Keep accurate complete and legible records in English.
- Assist Shift Mechanic as needed.
- Use caustion around moving parts and equipment.
- Keep areas of responsibility clean and well maintained.
- Notify Maintenace Manager Mintenance Forman Shift Mechanic Shift Manager and or Assistant Shift Manager of any problems with equipment and follow-up on any needed repair.
- Weigh and dump feed bins.
- Remove and dump garbage.

- Demonstrated willingness to learn and cross train on other jobs in the department.
- Completes all other responsibilites as nessary.
Knowledge and Skills:
- A strong mechanical background is helpful.
- Must be able to closely follow operational instructions. Ability to read understand and adjust when necessary gauges meters and computerized controls.
- Mst be able to perform required Boiler testing. Must be certified/ liicensed to operate Hyster.
- Must be able to complete certification of training in lockout-tagout fall protection confined space and be licensed in forklift operation. Prior maintenace experience or mechanical aptitude helpful. Use hand tools proficiently.
- Must be able in English to rad and/or write informatin in the Boiler Operator log book. Mst provide own hand tools and lockable toolbox.
- Adhere to and practice all company and regulatory safety policies and requirements.
- Education must be of such level as to allow for the accurate reading writing calculation and communication of the requied materials and instructions to complete the job responsibilites. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to stand bend or move repetitively for up to 12 hours.
- Must be able to lift on a regular basis up to 50lbs without assistance and 100lbs with assistance.
- Must not be allergic to dust or chemicals.
- Bending stretching lifting reaching climbng crawling and crouching required.
- Must be able to work weekends holidays and overtime as needed.
- Working Conditions: Normal plant/manufacturing environment. Hours of operation are 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The Boiler Operator must be available all scheduled days and hours. Position is veryphysical/hands on. Will be exposed to high levels of noise extreme heat or cold steam dust and wet humid and slick conditions and all other environmental factors attributed to a manufacuring environment.
