Job Description
Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor the Warehouse General Laborer is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the warehouse facility. This includes cleaning floors equipment and common areas to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment. The role plays a critical part in supporting warehouse operations by adhering to food safety health and OSHA standards.
Key responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize all warehouse areas including floors break rooms and office spaces
Sweep mop scrub and vacuum surfaces
Clean racking shelving and equipment as required
Remove trash and waste materials from the facility
Operate floor scrubbers and other sanitation equipment
Refill soap dispensers paper towels and cleaning supplies
Follow safety procedures and wear proper protective equipment (PPE)
Assist with pest control measures and spill clean-ups
Maintain sanitation logs and complete cleaning checklists
Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor
Comply with company policies and sanitation SOPs
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous sanitation or janitorial experience in a warehouse or industrial setting preferred
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks
Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures
Basic understanding of OSHA and safety standards
Ability to work independently and follow written/verbal instructions
Flexibility to work weekends or overtime if needed
Physical Requirements:
Ability to use close vision and peripheral vision to identify product label container and equipment issues; physically lift and handle up to 60-pound pails packages and containers; use hands to finger handle or feel objects and/or tools; bend stoop kneel and stand for extended periods performing repetitive motions
Ability to tolerate exposure to temperature changes and varying noise levels including at freezer and refrigerator temperatures for extended periods of time (equipped with appropriate cold weather outer wear and other PPE)
