Who are we looking for

GHDis seeking a motivated and innovative Senior Technical Director- Mining to join our team in Phoenix AZ. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities developing customer relationships and driving the growth of our U.S. West Mining practice. The Senior Technical Director- Mining professional will collaborate with the U.S. West Mining Business Group Leader West Region Leadership and the Americas Mining Sector Leader to develop and implement mining business strategies and plans. Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the mining industry engineering and scientific service offerings applicable to the mining industry as well as superior skills in business development. Recognized expert in the field of Engineering. You will have significant influence on organization policy program development and success and regularly lead projects of critical importance often with organization-wide impact.

Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
  • Recommendations: Provide integrated long-term solutions and strategies for a significant area of responsibility such as a function.
  • Needs Assessment: Engage with senior business leaders to understand long-term strategic challenges.
  • Solutions Analysis: Develop strategic solutions to long-term business needs by anticipating complex issues challenges and opportunities.
  • Improvement/Innovation: Initiate formulate and implement new business practices within a specific discipline while managing the development and/or delivery of a significant element of the organizations change management program.
  • Knowledge Management System: Take responsibility for developing and delivering a key element of the organizations knowledge management system.
  • Business Requirements Identification: Elicit the most-complex business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews document analysis workshops and workflow analysis to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
  • Feasibility Studies: Conduct the most-complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes products or business unit structure.
  • Contract Management: Manage the delivery of a major part of the organizations contract management program while taking personal responsibility for a limited number of mission-critical contracts.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Develop functional or operational policies and help develop policy frameworks for area of responsibility or department. Take responsibility for creating underlying procedures and monitoring their implementation.
  • Project Management: Manage a portfolio of major projects in line with overall project management strategy.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Manage key client and customer relationships. Likely to involve using account teams to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Education
  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering/Mining required Masters Degree preferred
Experience
  • Minimum 20 years experience in the Mining field
  • PE in the state of AZ preferred
