Job Description
The IT Network and Voice Operations team is seeking a Network Intern to support the Network team. The Network Intern will help maintain and support the campus network and telephony operations which include wired and wireless network upkeep basic telephony tasks and enduser support to both campus and residence staff and students. The student will work closely with the Network team and other ITS colleagues.
Key Duties
The ITS Network team requires the services of a senior Student Intern from Algonquin College to assist with the following network operations and support activities (but not limited to) under the supervision of the IT Network and Voice Operations Manager:
Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting basic wired and wireless connectivity issues for staff and students under their guidance.
Support simple telephony tasks such as provisioning phones updating extensions and documenting changes
Provide firstlevel enduser support for network or voicerelated problems escalating more complex issues to senior team members
Support student device setup in residence common areas and student rooms including cabling and wireless connectivity configuration
Assist in setting up and testing network equipment in the lab to enable senior technicians to validate use cases
Assist with routine network monitoring and maintenance including checking switches access points and cabling
Document support tickets record resolutions and help keep procedural guides up to date
Work closely under the guidance of the Network Team lead and experienced technicians
Undertake any other related tasks as assigned by the Network Team Lead or the Manager
Required Qualifications
Required skills normally acquired through partial completion of secondary school education or equivalent. Job duties require the ability to apply fundamental reading writing and arithmetic skills.
Up to six months of practical experience.
Anticipated Weekly Schedule:
Monday to Thursday 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM

This position requires regular on-site work at Algonquin Colleges Woodroffe (Ottawa) Campus.
Employment Stipulations:
This position is funded through the College Student Employment Program (CSEP). Applicants must be eligible for CSEP.
You must be currently enrolled in a full-time program. The following students arenot eligible: Second Career Apprenticeship Programs International students Algonquin College employees paying a reduced tuition Collaborative programs with the University of Ottawa or Carleton University and all programs that are not Ministry-approved;
You must be a Canadian citizen a Permanent Resident or a Protected Person/Convention Refugee within the meaning of subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) prior to the application deadline date;
You must demonstrate a financial need by successfully applying for OSAP or out-of-province financial aid funding
