Monomoy Regional High School is seeking a qualified Alternative Education Teacher - MA DESE Licensure required. DESCRIPTION OF BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: The teacher responsible for the Alternative Education Program named Oak Street at Monomoy Regional High School provides instruction and support services to individuals and groups of students enrolled in an alternative education classroom setting. The Oak Street teacher also acts as the liaison between the students caregivers staff faculty and local community partners to guide students toward internship/work-based programming. The role provides a continuum of academic behavioral social-emotional and wellness support to students and collaborates with colleagues as part of the sites Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework. SUPERVISOR: Site Administrator MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide standards-based instruction in an alternative education classroom; Collaborates with content area and special education colleagues to research develop and implement appropriate curriculum learning design and resources; Uses data to determine student academic strengths challenges and selects instructional materials and teaching techniques to meet individual or group needs; Prepares lesson plans and selects instructional materials meeting State Standards for group and individual instruction; Administers all required District and State assessments; Documents evaluates and reports student progress; Recommends changes in student classroom assignments to meet individual educational needs; Provides intervention/acceleration assistance employs the District Curriculum Accommodation Plan (DCAP) and employs universally-designed learning opportunities to meet individual educational needs; Applies research-based restorative behavior management strategies; Seeks to develop social-emotional and wellness strengths in students; Counsels and encourages students toward internship programming and collaborates with the districts Internship Coordinator and community partners/agencies to support outside of classroom opportunities; Works with school counselors to counsel and encourage higher educational and transition goals;Monitor transcripts credit recovery programming summer school completion to create and support an individualized roadmap to graduation; Maintains appropriate student records and tracks necessary information such as assignments/grades parent outreach interventions provided etc.; Participates in early release days and other professional development opportunities. Licensure:High School academic certification School adjustment counseling preferred
