This is a full-time position and will be responsible for utilizing the SouthPark Surgery Centers Epic and Care Everywhere for medical records management of the ambulatory surgery center.

The Health Information Specialist is responsible for providing complete accurate and industry compliant medical documentation for review and use by the physicians and clinical staff in the ASC.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Health Information Specialist Reports to the ASC Business Office Manager. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with 2 years of medical records experience
Experience
Two years of medical records experience and/or Health Information Certification with six months experience.

Training Period
Employee must be able to successfully complete all job responsibilities after 45 days of employment. Mandatory employment training will be provided in the following areas:
Work Environment

Work location is located within SouthPark Surgery Centers medical records office. Office equipment utilized for this position includes medical charts two computers one scanner telephone fax machine and copier.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Fulltime position between the hours of 7:30 am to 4 pm.

Describe the physical and mental demands of the job:
Strength guidelines (if applicable): Ability to move medical records daily from medical office to front desk in an office cart. Ability to occasionally create and move boxes of medical documentation that will be sent to an outside storage facility.
Motion parameters: The ability to sit in front of a computer for long hours scanning information into the computer system; clicking of a mouse as well as bringing and carrying medical charts from medical records office to front desk area.
Mental requirements: Ability to problem solve ability to work under pressure ability to make quick decisions ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment ability to use discretion and sensitivity ability to interpret data ability to work alone for long stretches of time.
