Job Description

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must meet the federal Highly Qualified (HQ) requirement by having one of the following or be able to obtain HQ status within the first year of employment.:
    • An associates degree
    • At least 48 semester hours of college coursework or
    • A passing score on a locally approved assessment
  • Must hold or obtain a valid Education Aide I certification through the Texas Education Agency (TEA) or must be obtained within the first year of employment.
  • Proven ability to work in a polite and friendly manner and relate to a variety of constituencies including but not limited to administrators parents teachers students other school staff and school visitors.
  • Possesses good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Ability to seamlessly use a variety of instructional technologies in a competent way that advances student learning.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Special Education student learning and classroom supporting SPED Teacher.
  • Assist Special Education students in the learning environment.
  • Support blended learning rotational model as indicated in daily lesson plans.
  • Collaborate with SPED Teachers weekly to ensure seamless instruction delivery.
  • Assists Special Education students according to their IEP services goals and objectives
  • Assist to provide accommodations in the classroom as required.
  • Completes required documentation.
  • Works with small groups of SPED students or individually as required.
  • Assist SPED students with technology functions/issues.
  • Respects the confidential nature of the classroom and will refer to the teacher if a problem arises.
  • Performs other office duties and/or tasks as designated or assigned by immediate supervisor allowable by IDEA B guidelines.
  • Makes SPED parent/guardian contacts as needed.
  • Know rules of FERPA and follow confidentiality for all student records and services
