Director of Human Resources Full-Time Exempt General Description:
The Director of Human Resources provides leadership and guidance to the organizations human resources operations. The Director is responsible for setting enforcing and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies procedures and best practices and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals to attract and retain top-performing staff.
Essential Duties: - Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organizations goals and strategy related to staffing recruiting and retention; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management.
- Plans leads develops coordinates and implements policies processes training initiatives and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including but not limited to compensation benefits and leave; employee relations disciplinary matters disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity recognition and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Researches develops and implements competitive compensation benefits performance appraisal and employee incentive programs.
- Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team and assists with resolving human resource compensation and benefits questions concerns and issues.
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
- Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal state and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends best practices regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources talent management and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy practice and resources to upper management.
- Identifies key performance indicators for the organizations human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organizations success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
- Develops and implements departmental budget.
- Facilitates professional development training and certification activities for human resources staff.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education and Experience: - Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
- At least eight years of human resource management experience required with strategic talent management and/or business development experience highly preferred. At least three years as department head preferred.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.
