Job Description:

The Treasury Portfolio Manager is responsible for the effective execution and management of an investment portfolio(s) and the investment strategies aligned to the organizations overall investment strategy and risk appetite.

Department Overview:

The TBSM Investments team is accountable for delivering on the Front Office and Investments (FOI) initiatives including the addition of new capabilities and asset classes to the portfolio. The Investments team develops and maintains investment portfolio reporting analytics and credit monitoring to measure and highlight the enterprise investment portfolio performance financial impacts and trends. The Investments team collaborates with the Front Office team in developing the Investment portfolio plan and delivery of that plan. The team partners with stakeholders across the organization including various teams within TBSM including Asset Liability Management Funding Liquidity Hedge Accounting as well as teams in Finance and Risk to manage the Enterprise Investment Portfolio (EIP) - including US CAD TDBEL and TDS portfolios. The team is also accountable for strategic analysis of the portfolios to achieve the goals of the Senior Executive Team (SET) reply to inquiries from the SET Investor Relations and regulators.

Depth & Scope:

  • Develop and manage strategies for the assigned investment portfolio(s)
  • Recommends profile and investment strategies which optimize the portfolio yield subject to meeting credit risk appetite interest rate risk liquidity and earnings variability requirements
  • Participates in relative value conversations amongst the portfolio team to optimize the banks risk adjusted returns
  • Responsible for day to day management of the investment portfolio(s) within the constraints of the banks risk appetite and policies
  • Develops and oversees risk profile and performance reporting and analysis for the portfolios
  • Liaises with stakeholders / business leaders on investment strategies to gain insights and perspectives to drive portfolio objectives


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree required
  • MBA and/or CFA preferred
  • 7 years related experience in a financial institution working either on portfolio management side or trading/sales
  • Strong communication math and analytic skills
  • Demonstrated financial portfolio experience in a financial institution
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Bloomberg
  • A strong understanding of prepayment modeling is necessary to align Portfolio Managements view with the wider Balance Sheet analytics.
  • Experience in portfolio construction and optimization theories and methods
  • Strong analytical software skills in Yield Book Blackrock Anser Polypaths etc
  • Extensive experience in understanding and analyzing prepayment modeling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS Office suite
  • Familiar with Bloomberg
  • Experience delivering on projects on investment portfolios
  • Familiarity with Bank Investment portfolios
  • Proven track record delivering on projects and initiatives
