Ready to apply your technical skills in an organization committed to police accountability The Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner (OPCC) is the office that British Columbians turn to when they have concerns about the conduct of municipal police. We are an impartial agencyindependent of police and governmentthat oversees complaints and investigations involving municipal police officers. We ensure complaints made under the Police Act are resolved in a timely transparent and accountable manner and that the process is accessible to the public. Recently the Commissioners powers were expanded to include investigating systemic issues related to complaints and the complaints process among other changes. These expanded powers make the modernization of the OPCCs data architecture more important than ever to support data-driven and evidence-based decisions and achieve efficiencies in service delivery.

This is a unique opportunity to make your mark in a new position within the organization and to work closely with senior and executive management to carry out important and strategic initiatives for the OPCC. You will have significant responsibility for data transformation management and integrity; solving data quality issues; and developing data management policies and procedures in support of the Offices statistical analysis and reporting requirements under the Police Act. Your work will help inform the public about police accountability and can lead to recommendations aimed at preventing misconduct and improving the system of police accountability.

Reporting to the Senior Research and Policy Analyst the position will deliver data administration services by providing technical guidance consultation technology research development and implementation across the Office on data standards and policy. The position will research and evaluate data architecture technologies facilitate standardization of data structures and recommend guidelines for data modeling standards. The position will also develop analytical and statistical reports and conduct research and analysis of a wide variety of program complaint and demographic data to support the Offices information and reporting requirements.

This posting is for one permanent full-time position. An eligibility list for similar temporary or permanent future opportunities may be established. Temporary positions may become full or part-time permanent status. This position is excluded from union membership. We support flexible work options including remote and hybrid arrangements with formal telework agreements where possible and appropriate. Travel may be required.

Financial assistance may be offered as part of the total compensation package for successful candidate(s) that must relocate to Victoria or Vancouver. Relocation allowances will be in accordance with the information here.
