About the opportunity

We are seeking an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Peer Support Worker to join our Catalyst program. In this role you will use your lived experience of substance use and recovery to provide compassionate peer-based support to clients navigating their treatment journey.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Offering mentoring and practical support from a lived experience perspective
  • Working alongside clinicians to support clients in achieving long-term recovery goals
  • Helping build trust and rapport with clients to encourage engagement and sustained participation in treatment
  • Supporting seamless and integrated AOD treatment pathways

Your lived experience will be essential in fostering understanding hope and connection for clients working to overcome substance use challenges.

Your skills and experience

You will have a relevant qualification in a health and/or welfare related discipline or equivalent experience is desirable but not essential. You will also have:

  • A relevant qualification in a health and/or welfare-related discipline or equivalent experience (desirable but not essential)
  • Certificate IV in AOD or completion of Alcohol and Other Drug core competencies (or willingness to complete within 24 months of employment)
  • Lived experience of substance use and accessing public AOD services
  • Demonstrated ability to support clients and families experiencing problematic alcohol and drug use in a respectful compassionate and positive manner
  • Experience in a similar role (AOD or mental health support) is desirable but not essential
