Manager of Volunteers and Patient Services

PRIMARY FUNCTION/GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Primary responsibilities of this position are to serve in a leadership role to effectively integrate hospital policy quality improvement and patient care issues in all sectors of the hospital to improve patient satisfaction and to respond to patient concerns through personal contact.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Preferred professional level of knowledge which is equivalent to completion of a Bachelors degree (BA) from a four-year college or university; or five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Requires work experience assessing and assisting in the resolution of customer relations using interpersonal oral and/or written communication skills with a variety of populations.
3. Requires experience in effective utilization of skills specifically related to conflict management and resolution.
4. Requires demonstrated basic computer literacy and the ability to successfully learn and utilize additional software programs as implemented.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists patients in understanding their rights and responsibilities through discussion of written information including but not limited to the Patients Rights and Responsibilities statement.
2. Responds appropriately to concerns through contact initiated by patients families caregivers physicians and staff of the hospital.
3. Determines and coordinates appropriate action necessary to resolve all patient complaints. Serve as an intermediary between patients caregivers physician families and administration to provide or ensure timely resolution to concerns.
4. Hires trains supervises and counsels patient advocates.
5. Educates staff in effectively addressing patient concerns.
6. Use database system to address track and trend for total quality improvement.
7. Analyzes data and disperses pertinent data to Administration Nursing Administration and others.
8. Plans and develops customer service workshops designed to improve staff relationswith customers families and the community.
9. Communicates clearly and directly with directors and managers to ensureresponses to significant problems are completed and shared with responsibledepartmental and administrative leadership.
10. Plans develops and implements policies and goals as they relate to customer satisfaction.
11. Directs review of relevant concerns to hospital Administration Risk Management andQuality Management.
12. Confers with administrative personnel to review monthly concern to determine changes in programs or delivery of services.
13. Facilitates monthly meeting with Administrative Director to evaluate monthly data to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revises objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
14. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served along with knowledge of the principals of growth and development reflective of the patients status.
