Job Description

Academic Services is focused on supporting SAITs schools and departments in their pursuit of SAITs strategic priorities. Academic Services brings together several academic development delivery and quality assurance units with a common goal: student success. Academic Services provides unique flexible support programing designed to help learners succeed in their chosen SAIT career program.


The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Instructor who demonstrates excellence in teaching values collaboration and maintains a strong student-centered approach. Reporting to the Academic Chair of Academic Upgrading you will be responsible for delivering the course PREP 181: Indigenous Educational Preparation within the Indigenous Pathways Program (IPP).

This course focuses on developing essential academic skills such as time management note-taking effective study strategies and building supportive networks delivered through a culturally relevant and respectful lens. Course: PREP 181: Indigenous Educational Preparation
Program Term: September 1 2025 December 15 2025 (Fall term)
Course Dates and Times: Tuesdays Thursdays & Fridays from 9.30am 11.00am.

A complete application package should include a cover letter a current Curriculum Vitae/Resume and a one-page statement of teaching interests and experience.To better understand applicants for the Indigenous Instructor position we ask that your cover letter outline your background experiences and understanding of Indigenous ways of being belonging doing and knowing. All application materials should be submitted as one PDF document.


Note: SAIT as a post-secondary institution serves a diverse student population. Therefore instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings evenings and weekends. If selected specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.

The Role

    • Implement innovative teaching methods that promote student engagement and inclusivity.
    • Utilize trauma-informed teaching practices to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
    • Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity in teaching Indigenous students.
    • Incorporate Indigenous perspectives into the curriculum and create an inclusive learning environment.
    • Incorporate applied learning strategies to enhance student understanding engagement and application of concepts.
    • Evaluate students progress and provide timely formative feedback.
    • Provide ongoing academic support guidance and advice to learners.
    • Familiarize students with available SAIT supports and make referrals as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

    • Experience teaching or working in Indigenous settings or completion of studies in Indigenous Education.
    • Bachelor of Education (.) or related discipline; a Masters in Education (.) is considered an asset.
    • Minimum of 1 year of post-secondary teaching experience. Experience teaching in high school is an asset.
    • Strong communication interpersonal and teamwork skills.
    • Excellent ability to manage time and prioritize responsibilities.

Hourly Rate: $38.18 - $48.32
