The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) keeps New York City healthy safe and clean by collecting recycling and disposing of waste cleaning City streets and vacant lots and clearing snow and ice. DSNY is the nations largest municipal sanitation agency with nearly 10000 employees 59 district garages and a fleet of more than 5000 trucks cars and other types of equipment. The Department clears litter snow and ice from approximately 6500 miles of City streets and removes debris from vacant lots as well as abandoned vehicles from City streets.
The Bureau of Public Affairs seeks a Digital Communications Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Communications within the Bureau of Public Affairs the Digital Communications Coordinator is the Departments lead on social media communications both proactive and reactive. The Digital Communications Coordinators responsibilities include but are not limited to;
-Planning monitoring and evaluating social media communications on Twitter Facebook Instagram and Linkedin as well as identifying new platforms as they emerge.
-Creating video content for the Departments community initiatives and campaigns.
-Communicating with the public.
-Responding to inquiries and following up both internally and externally.
-Planning implements coordinates monitors and/or evaluates programs providing important community communication.
-Providing an authoritative interpretation of complex problems.
COMMUNITY COORDINATOR - 56058
Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
