Position Details:

Summary of Duties

Center for Precision and Automated Agricultural Systems (CPAAS) is designed to offer a framework for precision/smart agriculture and automation efforts at Washington State University (WSU). As the Smart Farm Engineering Technician you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining digital infrastructures for an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabledDEMOSmart Farm as well as creating a community learning hub atWSUProsser WA (WSUAgAID) to supportCPAASand the agriculture community.

Under general direction this position is responsible to equip theDEMOFarm with field sensors imaging devices drones and field robots all of which will be connected to a secure server (control center) using a ready-to-connect interface for data collection processing and visualization. You will collaborate with theCPAASteam to support the research educational and community collaboration and extension efforts of theWSUAgAID institute through education and hands-on learning. In addition to Smart Farm setup and maintenance this position will support hands-on learning experiences for graduate and undergraduate student interns at the farm with both AI and agricultural technologies and facilitate field trips. The position reports to theCPAASDirector. This is three-year appointment pending annual performance review.

Additional Information:

This is a full time(100% FTE) project position. This position is overtime eligible.


Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.

Monthly Salary: $4386.85 - $5483.55 Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.
