Job Description

Regional Worker - East and Midlothian

Contract: Part time - 0.6 FTE (22.5 hours per week); Fixed term for 3 years with the possibility of extension depending on funding

Salary:18726 - 20053 per annum dependent on experience (pro rated) plus generous employer pension contributions annual leave entitlement and Employee Assistance Programme

Location: Hybrid Edinburgh Office/home and regional related travel as required

Start date: Autumn 2025

Who we are:

Scripture Union Scotlands vision is to see every child and young people of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus. We are a national charity with around 120 staff and over 2200 volunteers. Our activities take place in schools outdoor activity centres and churches.

We are seeking a parttime Regional Worker to join our Local Ministries Team to develop SU Scotlands ministry in East and Midlothian. This is as part of the Local Ministries East Team which works in West Lothian and Falkirk Edinburgh Midlothian East Lothian and the Scottish Borders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To bring together local ministry hubs building relationships with churches schools young people and potential volunteers as well as developing those existing relationships to help build our schools ministry
  • To grow involvement in our residential work regionally and nationally in missions and holiday clubs
  • To develop ministry partnership for this post for prayer and financialsupport

Who we are looking for:

The successful applicant will have experience of schools work and Christian ministry with children and/or young people; someone who has led teams of volunteers and is a confident communicator of Biblical truth with a wide range of young people. You should be based within easy reach of East and Midlothian and be prepared to support SU Scotlands ministry in all parts of the region.

For this post it is important that you able to demonstrate a commitment to SU Scotlands ethos working principles and vision. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1 schedule 9) that the post-holder is a committed Christian.

The appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
