Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
The Class Assistant takes attendance demonstrates movement retrieves and puts away props
and assists students and the instructor during class sessions. The Class Assistant may
occasionally lead class activities.
Transferable Skills:
This position provides transferable skills in communication collaboration listening leadership
problem-solving adaptability attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with set up (props like the skeleton mats bands etc. and
projector/computer). Its a plus to arrive 5 minutes early and leave 5 minutes late! - Supporting a positive and engaging learning environment by actively
participating enthusiastically problem-solving and answering student questions. - Accurately track and record student attendance.
- Interact with the professor students guests and department members with
discretion and professionalism. - Opportunities to lead portions of classroom activities or dance labs if desired and based on experience.
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
- Having passed Dance Anatomy and Kinesiology with a demonstrated
enthusiasm for the material additional anatomy physiology and kinesiology classes are a plus! - Movement experience outside the Europeanist aesthetic is encouraged to help students relate the class material to various movement methods.
- Must have the class period free and be consistently present on time and
enthusiastic - Ability to accurately track attendance.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to conduct oneself maturely respectfully and confidentially.
