Job Description
The Role & The Team
As a Senior Engineering Specialist (Airspace Platforms) you will lead the technical delivery of high-impact national projects including the relocation of the Network Operations Management Centre (NOMC) and the rollout of the National Airspace Management Office (NAMO) and the Local and sub-Regional Airspace Management Support System (LARA). Youll initially take on the role of Project Technical Lead (PTL) for NAMO providing expert technical leadership and systems engineering oversight to ensure project requirements are clearly defined and successfully delivered. Reporting to the Program Manager youll be responsible for the technical readiness of operational systems offering strategic guidance and working closely with project teams to ensure smooth and successful implementation.
In addition key role responsibilities include the following.
- Support the successful delivery of the LARA Airspace Management tool into the Australian Air Traffic Management (ATM) environment working closely with Defence.
- Support project technical components by implementing engineering processes frameworks policies and governance standards.
- Ensure the successful management of technical scope.
- Complete required cyber security assessments and documentation required under the Technology Management System (TMS).
- Provide technical engineering advice to support project decision making
- Oversee dependency identification reporting and management
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to determine operational and technical requirements.
- Development of technical and operational project artefacts.

The Person
As an experienced Senior Engineering Specialist (Airspace Platforms) you will bring a wealth of technical knowledge and experience to assist in the successful delivery of our addition you will possess the following:
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering and eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (e.g. RPEQ)
- Strong experience applying Systems Engineering practices across the SDLC
- Experience preparing and reviewing technical documentation
- Proven stakeholder and vendor management skills
- Ability to work independently and lead within a dynamic team
Desirable:
- Eligibility for Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) registration
- Familiarity with ISM DO-278A and aviation safety systems
- Knowledge of Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (Parts 171 & 172)
- Experience supporting air traffic management systems particularly in Airspace Management Cyber Security and System Integration
Security Clearance
To be eligible to apply Applicants must be an Australian Citizen and hold or have ability to obtain an Australian defence security clearance (AGSVA) at the level of Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance (NV1).
